Remote Agile Lean Coach Case Study: Product Management (Solution: Feature Decomposition)

End-to-End SDLC Product Enhancement Case Study using Agile & Lean

Phase 2: Solution

By using information obtained from our KPI’s to forecast business success, the first step would be to prioritize the features in the following sequence

  • Which features would deliver the highest amount of value?
  • Which features could be delivered in the least amount of time?
  • Which features could be developed with the least amount of risk?

Presenting these initial questions to developers and stakeholders would then allow us to:

  1. Scope the project between the sprints
  2. Identify which technologies would be required to meet the KPI’s, and also allow us to assess our capabilities (do we have have the correct technology. organizational maturity, staff, etc.)?
  3. Based on that outcome we’d be able to create and prioritize initial an Iteration Plan and establish a high level product backlog
  4. From there, we’d put together a Sprint Plan and groom the product back log by allowing the team to commit the highest value features requested by the business; identifying which could be completed in the first of the 5 Sprints.
